Typical wines
About
The territory of Rosignano Monferrato has always been a wine-growing area, as the hilly landscapes rich in vineyards and the many wine producers testify. Here you can taste and purchase the typical wines of the Monferrato Casalese.
Among the DOC wines (Denomination of Controlled Origin) you can find the Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese, the Barbera del Monferrato, the Monferrato (Rosso, Dolcetto, Freisa, Nebbiolo, Bianco, Casalese Cortese, Chiaretto or Ciaret), the Piemonte (among which Bonarda, Albarossa, Barbera, Grignolino, Cortese, Chardonnay, sparkling wine, Rosso, Bianco).
Among the DOCG wines (Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) you can find the Barbera del Monferrato Superiore and the Barbera of Asti.
There is also the Barbesino, which is a wine belonging to an old tradition, whose production started again in the ‘80s, thanks to the experimentations carried out by the Agricole Institute “Vincenzo Luparia”. The Barbesino, which results from the conjoint fermentation process of three types of wine (Barbera, Grignolino and Freisa) is guaranteed by the CO.BAR (Consortium of Protection of the Barbesino Red Wine of the Monferrato Hills).
